About Entsuan

A Little Zendo

In the heart of Bainbridge Island

Marc Shozan Joslyn, PhD is one of the oldest students of Sasaki Roshi. Over the years he has collected teachings, talk, photos, and audio and wishes to present these writing and teachings to the public in the form of an “online book.”

The little zendo was built in 1996 and seats approximately twelve.

Sit With Us

“What is this true meditation? It is to make everything: coughing, swallowing, waving the arms, motion, stillness, words, action, the evil and the good, prosperity and shame, gain and loss, right and wrong, into one single koan.”

-Hakuin Ekaku

Entsuan Zen of Bainbridge Island holds meditation (zazen) sessions most Sunday mornings at 10:00 AM along with some mid-week sessions and classes as well.

NOTE: Due to COVID-19, we’re currently not sitting in the Zendo as mentioned above. Instead, we’ve been holding a Zoom talk and discussion on Sunday afternoons.
